"TOSCA" - early, rare recording of Joseph Schmidt: "E lucevan le Stelle" in German, 1929 !

To Paul, My Friend, with gratitude for his music and his taste ! I found this Ultraphon record completely unexpectedly a few weeks ago in Berlin. That was one of those lucky (and happy !) days that I went through in that town. The earliest recording session of the tenor; the voice that always enchants me in a special way: for being natural, unique and full of true feeling and passion. Recorded 16 August 1929. The date of the pressing is in the shellac close to the centre of the record and says: 24.06.1930. With thanks to dairyman. The record has inscriptions in French language which indicates that it was meant for export to France or is a French pressing.
