The Victorinox Cadet Swiss Army Knife. – Refined Simplicity.

Salutations, Ladies and Gentlemen! During my last video, I showcased a variety of Swiss Army Knives within my collection; one of which was a new addition: the Cadet. The Victorinox Cadet is an 84mm Swiss Army Knife which maintains a similar toolset to the Recruit, yet with a few key differences. The Cadet firstly, features textured ‘Alox’ (aluminium) scales, while the Recruit sports the standard Victorinox plastic. This means that the Cadet lacks both the toothpick and tweezers which are traditionally housed in the plastic handles; but in turn, achieves a far slimmer frame, due to the slender cut of the Alox. Aside from the difference in handle material, the Cadet also trades the secondary, small pen-blade found on the Recruit, for a nail-file and nail cleaner in its stead. Despite the similarities, each knife occupies a slightly different role. The Recruit serves as a great, ‘starter knife’, due to both its simple toolset and low cost; while the Cadet stands as an excellent ‘gentleman’s knife’, which is evident in its sleeker profile and higher price. The Cadet is one of the thinnest Swiss Army Knives that I own, and is only beaten in this field by the Excelsior: an elegant ‘penknife’ model, discontinued as of 2023. Overall, I’m very pleased with the Cadet. It walks the balance between a utilitarian carry knife with a good set of tools, and a classy, slick folder which would go well with some nicer attire. Aside from the slightly steeper price, (for a SAK) I see no reason to discourage one from purchasing a Cadet, so long as you don’t mind giving up your scale tools! ;) Victorinox Cadet: (9 functions) -Main blade. -Can opener + small flathead screwdriver. -Bottle opener + large flathead screwdriver and wire stripper. -Nail-file and nail cleaner. -Keyring. -Textured Alox handle scales. -$57 - $62 (CAD) -Made in Switzerland. 🇨🇭 #edc #knives #swissarmyknife #gentleman
