Not “productive” to work through America’s issues on Gordie Howe Bridge publicly, Carney says

After meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris for a bilateral meeting on Friday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney took questions from reporters. The delayed opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge connecting Windsor, Ont. and Detroit, Mich., was the topic of the hour as Carney was asked to elaborate on the “technical issues” that he said caused the delay one day prior. While Carney didn’t expand on the supposed issues posed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration, he confirmed he knows “what they are” and said, “I don't think it's productive to work through those in public.” Another reporter pointed out a comment from Michigan’s (Republican) House leader, Matt Hall, who said he would like to see a 50-50 split of the bridge’s toll revenue before it opens.
