Test driving the 1970 Mercedes 280 SE with a 4 speed manual transmission. 85,000 original, verifiable miles and one of the most fun cars I've ever driven. No air conditioning No sunroof No power windows No power steering Yes, lots of fun! I chatter my way through this video talking about the car and how I was invited to participate in the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival this year and act as 'Sweep Car' in this 280 SE, the last car in each group during the running of 'the old course' - the +/- 6 mile original sports car course laid out through the city streets and surrounding country side of Watkins Glen, NY in 1948. It was a GREAT day... trying to keep up with Corvettes, Porsches, Ferraris, even Miatas, wasn't easy up the hills and across the picturesque countryside, but I sure tried! This car didn't miss a beat, and it was driven, HARD, all day long.
