Hotel Review: Barceló Málaga, Andalusia, Spain - January 2023 The Barceló Málaga is situated centrally in Málaga city centre, next to Málaga Renfe railway station and Estación de Málaga-María Zambrano, which is the Cercanias Metro train, which travels between Málaga and Fuengirola along the Costa Del Sol. This also means that there is a direct train from Málaga Airport to Estación de Málaga-María Zambrano and therefore the hotel, something which is very convenient indeed. This is a new hotel and it is aimed at both business and leisure visitors. I stayed there for 3 nights as part of a Jet2Holidays / Jet2CityBreaks, which cost a total of £358 on a bed and breakfast basis, which included return flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to Málaga, 20kg hold luggage, 10kg can baggage and breakfast at the hotel. Note that airport to hotel transfers were not included, but this was still very much a bargain price to pay. The hotel has a large reception / lobby area with a helter skelter from the first floor mezzanine down to it. There were four lifts, and I checked in no problems and got the lift up to the third floor where my room was. My room 337 was on the north side of the hotel with an unimpressive view over the railway station roof, however this also mean that my room was not in direct sunlight, which kept it at a nice temperature without the need to have the air-conditioning on. The room had a large king-sized bed, comfortable chair, chaise lounge, safe, flat-screen TV, fridge, kettle, wardrobe, bed-side tables, mini desk area, stoll and ample plug sockets. It was a very tiday and modern looking room and I was very happy with it. The bathroom had an impressively large walk-in shower, large sink area, toilet, mirror and the usual toileteries. It was an excellent bathroom. The hotel had a nice rooftop sun-bathing area with a small swimming pool, which was very inviting, evn in January! I enjoyed having a swim in there despite it being a little on the cold side. The breakfast buffet was extensive, although I get the impression that some of the 'hot' items are made the night before and kept in the fridge overnight, as frst thing in the morning, they weren't very warm, but later on around 9am they were piping hot, so something to consider if you are an early riser. The restaurant was very comfortable and the staff were all friendly and courteous. Overall this was an excellent hotel, I very much enjoyed my stay here and will absolutely stay here again in future.
