La piste de glace du MAROC (Gorges de JAFFAR)

Jaffar Gorge, Morocco — a legendary trail, in the dead of winter, covered in ice. Alone, with no signs of anyone having passed since the first snows, I finally discover the gorge I was unable to traverse fifteen years ago. Jaffar Cirque, near Midelt — the usual trail is impassable, snow-covered, and too dangerous to attempt solo. I turn back, and by chance, find a secondary track leading to the Jaffar Gorge itself. A path used only by shepherds and their flocks, rarely by vehicles. Vertiginous cliffs, technical rocky passages, and at the bottom of the gorge — ice, undisturbed, cracking beneath the tires. Fifteen years after failing on this very trail, I finally completed it. Alone, in the dead of winter, facing conditions I hadn't anticipated. What's next? Crossing the Atlas Mountains via Imilchil, followed by more gorges — Todra, Dadès, and Amejgag.
