Dr. Hanifa Shabazz
Dr. Hanifa Shabazz is a respected educator, community advocate, and the only female to serve as Wilmington City Council President, whose leadership has had a lasting impact on the City of Wilmington and communities throughout Delaware. Known for her dedication to public service, education, equity, and neighborhood empowerment, Dr. Shabazz has spent decades creating opportunities and strengthening the voices of underserved communities. In this oral history interview with the African American Heritage Institute, she reflects on her leadership journey, the importance of community engagement, and the experiences that shaped her commitment to advocacy and public service.
