Life has a way of demanding our attention. Grief, uncertainty, loss, fear, disappointment, and the burdens of everyday life can easily consume our thoughts and even weaken our faith if we allow them to become our primary focus. But Isaiah reminds us that everything changes when we behold the holiness of God. In the year King Uzziah died—a season of uncertainty and loss—Isaiah didn't receive a strategy for his problems; he received a vision of the Lord, "high and lifted up." The moment his eyes were lifted to God's holiness, his perspective changed. His focus shifted from his surroundings to the One who sits on the throne. The same is true for us. When we reverence God's holiness, we stop magnifying our problems and begin magnifying our God. His holiness reminds us that He is still sovereign, still worthy of our worship, and still in control. Our circumstances may not change overnight, but our hearts do. This week, don't allow your circumstances to become bigger than your God. Instead, take time each day to worship Him simply because of who He is. As you fix your eyes on His holiness, He will reshape your perspective, strengthen your faith, and prepare your heart for whatever He has called you to do.
