Plantamos Mudas de Rosas da Inglaterra na Quinta | Pele de Cobra e Passeio no Gerês
Welcome to Christine's Diary! 🌿 In this episode, we begin another day on our farm in Portugal, talking about work, dreams, and this new phase of our lives. The farm was abandoned for almost 30 years, and little by little, we are bringing this place back to life. I show our improvised breakfast, the old table that needs treatment because of signs of termites, and also a trip to the metal shop to get a quote for some things we need to do on the farm. Afterwards, we go to the orchard to pick some fruit with the basket I bought at the Vila Verde antique fair. We also show the rose seedlings we brought directly from our garden in England to plant on our farm in Portugal. Rafael begins preparing the seedlings, which came wrapped in kitchen paper, and explains a little about the technique he uses: moss to maintain moisture, rooting hormone, stem cutting, scraping, patience, and a lot of care. Those who follow our garden in England know how beautiful the roses are, so now we're starting an attempt to bring a little piece of that rose garden to Portugal. After clearing the land with the tractor, we found more snake skins where there used to be tall grass. We also show some things that need fixing, like the old septic tank lids, which were broken and we now want to replace with aluminum ones. At the end of the video, we take a walk through Gerês. I show the little shop where I always buy handmade soaps, the craft shops, wooden pieces, and that very special atmosphere of a small tourist town in northern Portugal. It's another episode full of real life: work, orchard, rose seedlings, discoveries, scares, shopping, walks, and many small steps to transform Quinta de Cartem into a home. Thank you for following this adventure with me. Your comments, tips, and affection mean a lot. 💚 CHAPTERS 00:00 Welcome to Christine's Diary 00:33 Another day on the farm 02:18 Improvised breakfast 02:29 The old table with signs of termites 03:12 Trip to the metal shop for a quote 04:15 Japanese lunch in Braga 05:19 Cloudy morning on the farm 05:44 Harvesting fruit in the orchard 06:15 Seedlings coming from our garden in England 08:41 Rafael preparing the rose seedlings 09:30 Moss to maintain humidity 11:21 The seedlings arrived well after the trip 12:21 We found more snake skins 13:28 Broken septic tank lids 15:39 Rafael watering before planting 16:08 Preparing the rose cuttings 18:50 Rooting hormone in the seedlings 21:36 More Varieties of roses to plant 9:51 PM Stroll through Gerês 11:39 PM Handmade soaps and small shops in Gerês
