It has 239,613 inhabitants (2021). Rondonópolis has the second highest gross domestic product (GDP) in the state of Mato Grosso. It is strategically located at the junction of Highways BR-163 and BR-364 and is the link between the northern and southern regions of the country. All agricultural and industrial production is transported through these routes to the major metropolitan centres and ports of Brazil . With an important geographic location, the city has a new growth leap in industrialization. Today, the diversification of industrial segments has generated important titles for the municipality: the largest soy oil crushing, refining and packaging centre in Brazil, the largest fertilizer mixing centre in the Brazilian interior, the largest state production of animal feed and supplements, slaughterhouses with international standards and is preparing to consolidate itself as one of the main textile hubs in the Midwest, through incentives and investment in the weaving and clothing industry. More recently, Rondonópolis begins to receive investments in the metallurgy sector. It represents an important hub that serves 21 municipalities and around 560,000 inhabitants.
