Heavy rains in Alta Verapaz caused the access bridge to the village of María del Pilar, in Chahal, to be submerged, cutting off vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Local reports indicate that the rising river also affected communication between the communities of San Pedro Setem and San Agustín. Authorities advise against attempting to cross while hazardous conditions persist.
