Abbey of Gethsemani Fr Matthew Kelty on Thomas Merton part 1
Part 1 of 2. Fr. Matthew Kelty knew Thomas Merton well. In fact, for a while, he was Thomas Merton's confessor. In this video, made in 2003, Fr. Matthew devotes one of his famous compline talks to memories of Thomas Merton. In 2002-2003, the documentary filmmaker Morgan Atkinson taped a number of Fr. Matthew's compline talks, of which this is one. He has kindly allowed us to use this footage. Thomas Merton died on the 10th of December, 1968, on the 27th anniversary of his entry into Gethsemani. Fr. Matthew joined him in eternal rest on the 18th of February, 2011.
