Reading the Wave
A brief tutorial on "doing it the hard way" at the Vågå Wavecamp last week in Norway. I knew the wave would be there from the SkySight charts, and you could see it right there from the runway. Weak wave, in an unintuitive location. It's an unusual feeling to be climbing in rotor and wave directly above the lee-side of the ridge. You're watching the trees bend down the ridge, but not far above you're going up! It doesn't match how wave is drawn in the pictures in your books, but it's how it often is in reality.
