"Return and remove" - Zechariah is the most quoted prophet in Matthew’s passion narrative. Matthew understands that Zechariah explains Jesus’ death for us. At the heart of Zechariah’s visions is a cleansed priesthood, with God removing sin from his people and from the nation Israel.
