Kalavantin Durg | Most Dangerous Trek Near Panvel Maharashtra | Manish Solanki Vlogs

Kalavantin Durg is a 2,250 ft (686 m) high peak located in the Western Ghats, near the Prabalgad Fort in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. According to local guides it was built in the 15th century for a queen named Kalavanti. The word "durg" in Marathi language means fort. Though it is called "Kalavantin Durg", there is no fort here. Kalavantin is a peak that was used by the ruler to keep an eye on the surrounding area. The trek to the top of Kalavantin Durg is considered to be one of the most challenging in the Western Ghats. The peak can be reached via a 3 km walk from Thakurwadi village in Karjat taluka. After Prabalmachi village (2 km from Thakurwadi), the walkway splits into two paths: the shorter one towards Kalavantin Durg, and the longer one towards Prabalgad Fort. The route to Kalavantin peak is approximately a 60-degree slope, and involves climbing through rock cuts to a height of 2 feet.
