Oliver Heldens & Becky Hill 'Gecko (Overdrive)' | The Making Of A Chart-Topping Dance Hit

Oliver Heldens and Becky Hill share the story behind their chart-topping hit, 'Gecko (Overdrive)', on the week of it's 10th anniversary. Heldens explains how he made the original version of 'Gecko' in the back of his mum's car whilst on holiday. He then sent it to Tiësto on Twitter, which led to it being signed to Spinnin' Records and becoming a huge success as an instrumental. The following summer a vocal version of the track was released, sung by Becky Hill and co-written with MNEK. In this video, Hill reflects on writing the song in the studio as a teenager and how 10 years on the track is just as special to her. Electronic music history is rich with unforgettable and timeless classics. In our series, DJ Mag explores the tales behind some of the world's favourite dance tracks, told by the people that made them.
