Patient recovery called miraculous
After spending more than a year at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, Calif., patient Marco Fuentes is released to go home. Physician assistant Neydi Salverri-Edmonds said there were many times when they didn't know if Fuentes would survive necrotizing pancreatitis, an infection of the pancreas, which ate away tissue, including his intestines. To keep him alive, Fuentes was on intravenous feeding for 11 months and two weeks -- no food or water passed his lips for almost a year.
