VINMOTION INTELLIGENCE PIONEERS SEMINAR #3 | From Maps to Memories - Associate Prof. Luca Carlone
On June 12th, 2026, VinMotion was privileged to host the VinMotion Intelligence Pioneers Seminar, featuring Associate Professor Luca Carlone from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - one of the world's leading researchers in Robotics and Spatial AI. The seminar introduced 3 key trends shaping the future of Spatial AI. First, the emergence of foundation models such as VGGT, VGGT-SLAM, and VGGT-SLAM2 is opening new directions for SLAM, enabling feed-forward inference that significantly reduces system complexity while improving scalability. Second, there is a shift from traditional metric maps toward semantically rich environment representations in the form of 3D/4D Scene Graphs, allowing robots to build and leverage spatiotemporal memories in ways that more closely resemble human memory and reasoning. Finally, task-oriented perception and memory approaches were presented as a critical direction for helping robots focus on information that is truly relevant, thereby improving operational efficiency and autonomy in complex real-world environments. We extend our sincere appreciation to Associate Professor Luca Carlone for sharing his pioneering research and thought-provoking perspectives, and to all attendees for contributing to an inspiring exchange of ideas. 👉 Register for the next sessions of VinMotion Intelligence Seminar: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/U95Gw...
