Unbobtailing a Bobtailed 1971 Range Rover Classic - how I did it - Ep1
Hello and welcome First in a 2 part miniseries in which I consolidate 31 episodes already published on this channel into a single shot but with me chuntering over the top. The base project vehicle is a Range Rover Classic A-Suffix built mid 1971. As you can see the car had been chopped up into a bobtailed off roader BUT enough remained of the 1971 car that it intrigued me enough to buy it and then restore it. Obviously it had not used for a very long time indeed Playlist of all episodes • Range Rover 1971 Bob - see playlist descri... I started working on it in May 2020 as part of my lockdown boredom project, initially was going to make a decent bobtail out of it but then got the bug and decided that there was enough of the original chassis, axle and body left to justify a full on rebuild. The car was sold mid way through the project on the provisor that I completed it to the customer spec. Some safety and 21 century features were added to make the car more useable, so please do not bang on about "that isn't a-suffix" etc. Customer car, customer choice. The engine is a 3.5 9.35:1 v8 from a discovery 1 if I recall. The EFI removed and stromburg CD175 fitted. Exhaust manifolds are twin port from a 3.9 v8. the exhaust system replicates the twin pipes that the customer wanted. The gearbox was changed to an LT77 for economy, noise and convenience of the owner. This was turned into a long stick by using a defender remote gear linkage 1990s headlining was fitted to allow for speakers and twin interior lights Seats are 1980s RR 2 door that came from my dads 2 door a-suffix. he was looking to change them and the customer always wanted this interior so a deal was done. Front seatbelts are modern retractable and rear seatbelt mount points have been changed to match later RR classic. 3 fuse fuseboard was abandoned in favour of a new blade fusebox Enjoy --------------------- Thumbs up and please subscribe for more Contact me at ChurchHouseClassics at Gmail . com There is no obligation but if you want to support the channel or just plain insist on buying me a pint https://www.paypal.me/ChurchHouseClas...
