Concierto de Aranjuez Miles Davis/Gil Evans Sketches of Spain for trumpet and guitar duet
Concierto de Aranjuez was originally composed as a concerto for guitar and orchestra by Joaquín Rodrigo in 1939. It was famously adapted for trumpet and jazz orchestra by Gil Evans especially for Miles Davis on the 1959 album Sketches of Spain. I made this arrangement utilizing the trumpet as the lead voice, essentially playing Miles' role, and the guitar plays an arrangement of the orchestra part. I used mostly Evans' score as a model but some sections were adapted from Rodrigo's original version as well. Jason Pettit - Trumpet Michael Kent Smith - Guitar
