I've wanted to make a new Gospel mix for a least a year but I just couldn't find the perfect tunes I wanted to play at that time. I really try to put these Sets together with a certain amount of flow so that the songs tell a story or at least create an uplifting and spirit filled mood. Well, I finally have those perfect songs and I think "Beyond Measure" tells that story. I stated in one of my early mixes a few years ago, how both of my late Grandmothers would take me to church as a young boy, and how I was always fixed on the bands (mainly the drummer) and those amazing soulful choirs. This Set especially the first 30 minutes reminds me of those good old special days with Grandma! (Straight Up Church). Ms. Joycelyn Brown sets the stage with her incredibly powerful voice, then DJ Spen loops an old school choir and with sounds by the incomparable Ann Nesby and DJ David Harness just to name a few, this playlist packs a mean spiritual Punch!
