2017 Australian Kart Championship Round 1 - Newcastle - KA3 Senior

2017 Australian Kart Championship Round 1 - Newcastle - KA3 Senior. Very average weekend in Newcastle. Because of the race format, I had to start the heats from 27th due to an engine problem costing me half a second a lap. With this sorted, I could have been in the top 15 which I would have taken. Really average starts in the first three heats, but dodging disaster meant that I placed in 25th, 22nd and 17th respectively. Heat 4 I wasn't so lucky, much better start but was in the wrong place at the wrong time and fell back. Made a good recovery to 26th though. Also in the final, got a good start but was in the wrong place at the wrong time again, as well as not having the long-run pace as my kart went off early due to the extreme heat and a bad setup change. Big thanks to Steve Gawne for all his help in 40+ degree heat, reaching 50 at one point on the Saturday of the race, mum and dad for all the support, my mates and Pace Images and Coopers Photography for great photos. All in all, a massive learning curve. Will come back to the next race stronger and hope to challenge for a top 15 at least in round 2 at Geelong.
