Amplifying an acoustic Double Bass is a big challenge. Big instrument, big sound, how do you turn this into an electronic signal for amplification. Piezo pickups are a practical way of doing it but the sound is never really 100% satisfying. I bought quite a few in the past, always on the lookout for the best solution. I had find a new one for my new bass and I put the outcome of my quest in this video for you to get an idea. Originally I am an electric bassist where amplifying the instrument is the center of the instrument, the double bass is a whole different story. One thing that always comes up in conversations with other double bassists is how difficult it is to amplify the double bass and nobody has found a perfect solution yet.
