Transparent surfaces perform a variety of functions in your home: PROTECTING the interior environment from atmospheric agents, intrusions, and insects. PROTECTING the correct supply of AIR and LIGHT. INCREASING THERMAL COMFORT and ACOUSTIC COMFORT. The external frame, here understood as a "window opening," is essentially composed of 7 parts: 1. The SUBFRAME 2. The FIXED FRAME 3. The MOVABLE FRAME 4. The TRANSPARENT PANEL 5. ACCESSORIES (hardware and gaskets). 6. SOLAR SHADES 7. The BOX SUBFRAME The SUBFRAME (commonly referred to as a false frame) is not a marginal element, as it is often thought. It represents the interface between the fixed frame and the wall, the so-called "intermediate plane" or "primary and secondary node," which guarantees protection from noise and heat/cold. THE FIXED FRAME AND THE MOVING FRAME These are the two parts of the window frame: the FIXED FRAME anchored ("secondary node") to the window opening and the MOVING FRAME which, hinged to the fixed frame ("tertiary node"), allows the opening and closing of the window. The MOVING FRAME has 10 types of movement: casement; pivot; visor; pivot; swing; sliding; up-and-down; pantograph; folding; tilting. Both frames provide protection from the elements as well as separation between the internal and external climates. The profiles can be made of: WOOD, ALUMINUM, WOOD-ALUMINUM, or ALUMINUM-WOOD, PVC, PVC-ALUMINUM, or PVC-WOOD. 𝗟𝗮𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘 Modulating solar gain, providing lighting, and allowing visual interaction with the outside are the functions of this component within the window and door system. Among the most commonly used materials is glass. Plexiglass and polycarbonate are also used for niche projects. 𝗚𝗹𝗶 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗘 There are many accessories for a window and door system, each with a specific function. Using appropriate accessories is essential to ensure that the window and door system can ensure both minimal and, through careful selection, high performance. 𝗟𝗲 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗜 Solar Shading Systems are defined in Annex M to Legislative Decree 311/2006 as "systems that, applied to the outside of a transparent glass surface, allow variable and controlled modulation of energy and optical-light parameters in response to solar radiation." There are four fundamental types of solar shading: 1. ROLLER SHUTTER 2. SHUTTER 3. SUNBREAKER 4. GLASS SCREEN DISTANCE FROM THE BOX In cases where shading is provided by roller shutters, the box is applied above the window frame, occupying a thickness of approximately three-quarters of the entire wall; therefore, only a small section of wall (the "veil") of a few centimeters remains on the outside, which, consequently, has very little insulating power. The average gap between the roller shutter and the wall is 1.5 cm, the average gap between the roller shutter and the window frame is 2.5 cm, the casings are 6 to 10 mm thick, and the lack of gaskets and seals leads to drafts (increasing energy bills), noise (disturbing), and condensation (unhealthy living environments). PERFORMANCE First of all, a window and door must bear the CE marking, and its PERFORMANCE must be certified exclusively by bodies authorized by European regulations. There are 6 performance requirements for the window and door system to be verified: 1. THERMAL REQUIREMENT: Uw ≤ 1.30 W/m2K. 2. ACOUSTIC REQUIREMENT: 32 ≤ Rw [dB] ≤ 45. 3. SOLAR FACTOR: g = 0.35. 4. AIR PERMEABILITY: 3 ≤Class ≤4. 5. WATERPROOFNESS: Class = 6A (pressure 300Pa, wind 78 km/h). 6.
