Complex High-Risk Percutaneous Coronary Interventions | Cardiology Grand Rounds
Recorded live on June 1, 2023. Former Stanford University School of Medicine interventional cardiology fellow Dr. Ning “Maggie” Ning discusses complex high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). Dr. Ning begins her lecture with a case review of a high-risk patient with cardiogenic shock undergoing left main PCI. Dr. Ning then summarizes trial evidence on protected PCI, outlining potential benefits for procedural complications. She then reviews the importance of optimized lesion preparation, intracoronary imaging guidance, overviews various devices, and concludes with revisiting the main PCI case study. Discuss the clinical evidence of mechanical circulatory support assisted complex high-risk PCI and recognize the appropriate clinical settings for use. 2. Review the recent data on intravascular imaging in complex high-risk PCI. 3. Summarize the current available calcium modification tools used to improve technical outcomes in complex high-risk PCI and recognize the advantages and disadvantages of each tool and appropriate scenarios for use.
