More charges could be added against Makgotloe

The State says there is a strong likelihood that additional charges could be brought against senior ballistics analyst Laurence Makgotloe as investigators continue to scrutinise his work. During closing arguments in Makgotloe's bail application, which was upgraded to a Schedule 5 matter, prosecutors told the court they are combing through more than 3000 cases handled by the senior forensic expert for signs of possible evidence tampering or sabotage. The State further alleges that more than 20 ballistics reports were found at Makgotloe's property; at least 18 of those cases did not result in arrests. Veronica Makhoali has more.
