✨Delight in the delicate storytelling of “Midnight Honeybees,” an emotional ballad written by Andrea Daly, Program Mentor for the 2024/2025 Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge for High School Students. Performed live at the Challenge Accepted! Concert 2025 in New York City, “Midnight Honeybees” is about a woman who wrote herself a lullaby when she couldn’t fall asleep. Written & Performed by Andrea Daly About the Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge for High School Students: The Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge, presented by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with the National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT), is an opportunity for high school students nationwide to write and showcase original songs that could be part of a musical. A submission is one song. Students receive feedback from industry professionals on their Draft 1 submissions, and may revise their songs for the Draft 2 competitive round, where a group of winners will be selected to have their songs premiere live in concert in New York City.
