How Does Metformin Work? (Pharmacology for Nurses)

Preparing for medication admin and education is a common nursing skill. Understanding the pharmacology around medication admin is a nursing responsibility. This video is about Metformin and how it works in the body. I think learning pharmacology needs to be fun, and more than that, it needs to have relevance. I like to help students learn their medications by giving them a real-world example, a visual that helps them to "see" what a drug is doing in the body. Come and learn about how the foreman of the factory has to reassign his staff to other worksites to keep them employed. We talk about the three actions of Metformin: 1. Decreased hepatic glucose production 2. Decrease intestinal glucose uptake 3.
