Weiler Matador Lathe: Apron Assembly – Clean, Smooth & Ready – Part 16

In Part 16 of the Weiler Matador Lathe restoration, the apron finally returns to the machine after a full rebuild. This was a straightforward and satisfying step: clean parts, fresh paint, ultrasonic‑washed components, and a smooth final assembly. The video begins with the carriage sitting on its trolley, ready for reinstallation. Off camera, I prepared the surfaces, repainted the apron properly, and cleaned all the internal components. The new nameplates are installed, although one of them gave me a small setback — a 1.5 mm drill bit snapped inside the old rivet hole, making one rivet difficult to fit. I’ll fix that later, but the assembly continues. All bolts were installed using anti‑seize paste, since this part of the lathe is constantly exposed to coolant and moisture. I don’t want the bolts to seize again in the future. Everything was lubricated, greased, and reassembled with care. Nothing dramatic, nothing extreme — just a clean, smooth, satisfying rebuild of a key component of the Weiler Matador #WeilerMatador #LatheRestoration #ApronAssembly #MachineRestoration #Metalworking #Machining #VintageLathe #WorkshopProjects #WeilerLathe For any questions or requests, or even just for a greeting, write me at: [email protected]
