Moving our series on psych safety to the team level: how do we set expectations regarding things like reporting mistakes, managing uncertainty, or how we’re going to depend on one another? https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast... As a leader, we’re in charge of setting standards for issues like, whose voice gets heard in meetings? Who gets to decide when we’re done talking about a topic, and are going to move on? You can see how this is incredibly relevant on the floor or in the unit. The standard of prioritizing what we get to spend time on -- and what we don’t -- can be an unspoken, but fundamental part of the culture of our team. We can also test whether our current dynamic is working through a simple paradigm: if it doesn’t feel socially comfortable to name how decisions are made in the current system out loud, then the current process probably can’t stand up to critique and needs to be changed.
