Chinese First Lady visits Juilliard School of Performing Arts,New York

Mme. Peng Liyuan, the First Lady of China and renowned Chinese folk singer with a Masters in traditional ethnic music, visited the Juilliard School in New York during the first official state visit to the US by her husband President Xi Jinping. The visit comes as The Juilliard School, a world leader in performing arts education, announces it will open a new campus in China. Mme. Peng Liyuan was shown original manuscripts by Beethoven and Mozart and watch performances by Juilliard students, including a traditional Chinese song which she critiqued. The First Lady also unveiled a plaque to commemorate the announcement of plan to create The Tianjin Juilliard School.
