So many YEARS seaching for her ๐บ๐ฒ U.S Military Father! ๐
Jackie Wiest is searching for her long lost father who once served at the Subic Bay Naval Base. We went to Olongapo to interview and help these Amerasians who are still searching for their biological fathers after so many years since the United States pulled out of the naval base in 1992. Some of these half Filipino, half American kids suffered immense bullying and discrimination because they were deemed to have been "left behind by the ship." I should call this video "the hero's journey" because at first Leah May did not want to go, she would be leaving her own children behind. In the end she took up the challenge and interviewed the Amerasians hoping someone watching the video might know teacher Jackie Lou's Father, "William Davis Wiest" whose name was on her birth certificate. She has not seen him since he left when she was just two years old. The information given to her was that her birth father served onboard the ammunition supply vessel the USS Mount Hood (AE-29) He was also a guitar player and aged around 24 at the time of her birth making hi. about 67 as of 2023. perhaps although this may all be the wrong information given by the mother as is so often the case from the Olongapo/Subic Bay nightlife era during the late 1960s up to 1992 when the U.S Navy left Subic Bay for good. It is estimated anywhere between 50,000 to 250,000 Amerasian children were born during this period in the Philippines. Thousands still remain, not knowing who there real biological fathers are, growing up in a life of misery and poverty. Some were adopted, the lucky ones were claimed by their fathers before they turned 18, the rest we are helping with providing Ancestry DNA kits with the real chance we can get a match to their biological father.
