I finally did it! :) The GSH-18 pistol was created at the Tula Instrument Design Bureau (KBP) by two of the greatest designers of our time – Vasily Gryazev and Arkady Shipunov. Development of the new pistol began as part of the "Rook" program, the goal of which was to create a new military pistol to replace the Makarov PM pistol. The gunsmiths at the Tula KBP largely took inspiration from the Austrian superpistol – the Glock. Of course, the Tula team had no intention of blindly copying the Austrian design. The goal was to create a weapon that was equally reliable, trouble-free, and effective. The result was a 9x19 caliber pistol capable of firing armor-piercing rounds, featuring more extensive use of impact-resistant polymer components than ever before! Want to learn more?
