Golf Buggies & Private Islands on Brand New Star Princess!

We hired a golf buggy and drove around Grand Turk ourselves — no tour guide, no group. Here's what we found that the excursion brochures don't mention, plus an unusual stop at Princess Cays that changed how we think about private island days. We're sailing from Fort Lauderdale and this episode covers our first two ports: Princess Cays, the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas, and Grand Turk in the Turks & Caicos. At Grand Turk, rather than joining a tour, we rented a golf buggy and spent the day exploring independently — Cockburn Town's pastel colonial streets, the Grand Turk Lighthouse, the tiny beaches locals actually use, and the main cruise beach that everyone photographs. Star Princess is genuinely stunning — the SPHERE-class design gives the ship a completely different feel to any Princess ship we've sailed before, and the scale of it is something you don't fully appreciate until you're actually on board.
