HAWK pedestrian crossing "How To"
CIty of Tallahassee installed a new amenity designed to keep pedestrians safer. This new High intensity Activated cross Walk or HAWK for short, has flashing lights to alert motorists when pedestrians are ready to cross the road. The signal system works very much like a regular cross walk in terms of how the pedestrian uses it. However, the motorist will need to come to stop when the lights turn RED and treat the crossing just like a normal traffic signal. This stop only takes a few moments while pedestrians cross safely. Afterwards, the motorists can go on their way.
