He is being questioned regarding the murder of 25-year-old Teresa Halbach, which took place on or around October 31, 2005. Teresa worked for Auto Trader, and visited Steven Avery's salvage yard to take pictures of a vehicle, and was apparently never seen again... Here is the No BS Interrogation of Brendan Dassey. Timeline of the case after conviction: Brendan Dassey was convicted in 2007 for the murder of Teresa Halbach... On August 12, 2016, U.S. Magistrate Judge overturned Dassey's conviction, citing a coerced confession and ordering his release if not retried. November 16, 2016: The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals blocks Dassey's release. June 22, 2017: A three-judge panel of the Seventh Circuit upholds the ruling that the confession was improperly obtained. December 8, 2017: The full Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, in an en banc review, votes 4-3 to reinstate Dassey's conviction, determining the confession was voluntary. February 20, 2018: Dassey's legal team petitions the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case. June 25, 2018: The U.S. Supreme Court declines to hear the appeal. October 2019: A clemency request is filed with the Governor of Wisconsin but is denied. As of 2026, Brendan Dassey remains incarcerated at Oshkosh Correctional Institution.
