Theologians in Conversation; Qur'anic Studies Today

Dr Holger Zellentin looks at the variety of ways that the Qur'an is studied by outlining three major approaches; (1) the traditionalist which sees every verse having a precise location in the Prophet's life; (2) the Revisionist which finds little connection with precise historical moments; and (3) the Neo-traditionalist approach which sees the value in aspects of the other two approaches. He also outlines three major scholarly projects that are being carried out at the moment into the Qur'an's origins.
