BUILDING OUR DREAM HOUSE IN JAMAICA: Key Steps in Casting a Concrete Decking Slab

Good day and welcome back to BUILDING OUR DREAM HOUSE IN JAMAICA. It’s a pleasure to have to watching my update on the Key Steps in Casting a Concrete Decking Slab Casting a concrete slab roof involves setting up temporary supports (shuttering), placing steel reinforcement (rebar mesh), pouring a concrete mix (cement, sand, aggregates), compacting it, finishing the surface smooth, and then properly curing it (keeping it moist) for strength, with minimum thickness often 4-5 inches, creating a durable roof structure after columns/beams are built. Pour Concrete: Mix cement, sand, aggregates, and water (sometimes with waterproofing additives) and pour it over the reinforcement. Compact & Finish: Use vibrators or tamping to remove air bubbles (compact) and then smooth the surface with trowels. Cure the Slab: Keep the concrete moist for days or weeks by ponding water on top or spraying it, which is crucial for achieving full strength. #diy #construction ‎Follow the 🔨PaynefulDiy channel on WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va9r...
