What Betrayal, Power and Absence Taught Me | BBK

I am always moved by people who carry deep pain without letting it make them bitter. In this episode of Cheers to Failure, I sit with BBK for a conversation that is layered, piercing, funny in places, and full of lived wisdom. The kind that does not come from theory, but from surviving life, watching people closely, and learning what it really means to lead yourself. BBK speaks about failure in a way that stayed with me. For him, failure is not just about losing. It is about failing to lead. Failing to learn. Failing to evolve. Failing to adapt. Failing to deliver on the responsibility of being who life has called you to be. We talk about what it meant to grow up without his biological father’s leadership, and how his grandfather stepped into that gap with discipline, tenderness, and standards that shaped the man he became. We talk about money, betrayal, journalism, intimidation, family, and the quiet kind of pain that teaches you how to see people clearly. This is also a conversation about power. About what it means to confront it, report on it, survive its politics, and still keep your integrity intact. BBK does not romanticise any of it. He names the cost. He names the lessons. And he names what has helped him stay standing. There is so much texture in this episode. The kind that makes you pause and think about your own life, your own relationships, your own choices, and the people who really raised you.
