Summary of his academic background: Dr. Juan Carlos Gómez de la Torre Pretell was born in Arequipa, Peru. He studied Human Medicine at the Catholic University of Santa María, completed his medical internship at the Honorio Delgado Regional Hospital, and his Marginal Urban Health Service (SERUMS) at the Peruvian Air Force Hospital in Iquitos. He completed his specialization in Clinical Pathology at the Federico Villarreal National University. He holds a Master's degree in Molecular Biology from the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the National University of San Marcos and a second specialization in Infectious and Tropical Diseases from the same institution. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Senior Management from ESAN. Since 2005, he has been a university professor in various medical schools, teaching courses in Infectious and Tropical Diseases, among others. At the Peruvian Air Force Hospital, he served as Head of the Laboratory, Head of the Blood Bank, and Assistant in the Infectious Diseases Department; he is currently an external consultant for the same department. In addition, he is a speaker for various pharmaceutical companies in the areas of infectious diseases, vaccines, and molecular diagnostics. In 2004, he founded the Peruvian Institute of Molecular Biology (IPBM), continuing his work at the Roe Clinical Laboratory as head of the Molecular Biology department, where he currently serves as Deputy Medical Director.
