Air New Zealand Airbus A320-271 NEO [ZK-NHA] • FULL FLIGHT & DIVERSION• Sydney to Wellington ANZ842

Flying on Air New Zealand’s A320-271 NEO (New Engine Option) from Sydney to Wellington. The A320 NEO is a modification of the CEO (Current Engine option) A320 and the Air New Zealand Airbuses are fitted with the PW1100G. They offer more range and better fuel efficiency as well as also being much quieter. This trans-Tasman flight took us eastbound over the ‘ditch’ to Wellington. I was able to connect to unlimited free inflight wifi that was considerably fast which added to the experience. Upon approach into Wellington, winds gusting up to 51 knots (94km/hr) forced the aircraft into a very unstable approach and the crew were unable to continue the approach due to windshear. We attempted a second time for the same approach but was still unstable and we ended up diverting to Auckland which took another 45 minutes. Upon arrival into Auckland, Air New Zealand offered free hotel vouchers for the passengers onboard flight 842 and had rebooked everyone on a new flight the next day (link below). Apologies for the darkness, I didn’t want to end the video mid flight so I continued filming to capture the sounds etc. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to film the go around. Enjoy!
