DVOŘÁK "Goin' Home" (for Solo Flugelhorn/Eb Cornet with Piano)

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY. It’s important to pause and remember the meaning of the day—to honor those who died in service to their country. This tune is one of many which is heard sometimes at military funerals and is meant to remember those who were lost. This tune is taken from the second movement of Antonín Dvořák’s “Symphony No. 9 (From the New World).” The music, originally intended to evoke an African-American spiritual, later had appropriate words written by a pupil of Dvořák’s to reflect this, and this tune has become nearly as well-known as the very popular symphony itself.
