The art of singing: Capella Puellarum at TEDxHaarlem

The Capella Puellarum is one of the selection choirs of the Musical institute St. Bavo. It is part of a musical tradition which goes back 1300 years, because of it's connection to the basilica St. Bavo situated on the Leidsevaart in Haarlem. The Capella is made up of 15 young women, their ages ranging from 14 to 20 years old. They have been singing together ever since they were eight years old, first as students of the choir school and now as members of multiple choirs of the institution. Next to their honorary St. Bavo sermon duties, the Capella regularly performs domestically and abroad on an exceptionally high level. Last year the choir won second prize in the Dutch choir festival. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
