There is a bottleneck of orangutans who are ready to be released into the wild, but there are not enough resources to release them...so they wait... The release site is in remote Borneo and very difficult to reach. This is one of our most pressing concerns. BOS would provide complete histories on the individuals and you would be kept informed on their release and their post-release monitoring. Help us raise money to construct a new sanctuary island which would provide homes for non-releasable orangutans. A new island costs approximately $100K from start to finish and we can work on this collectively! The images of tree planting shows you what the islands look like before planting. This video highlights the important work of orangutan rescue and rehabilitation, focusing on the efforts to save these incredible primates. Many orangutans are illegally kept as pets due to the pet trade, or sold internationally, prompting dedicated animal rescue organizations to step in.
