A central figure in the alternative scene of the 80s and 90s, Daniel Melero was one of the great driving forces behind the modern sound of Argentine rock. A visionary, producer, composer, and theorist, his influence spans decades and styles. He was a close collaborator of Gustavo Cerati and a key figure in the sonic evolution of Soda Stereo. Co-author of the classic "Trátame suavemente" (Treat Me Gently), he participated in "Canción Animal" (Animal Song) and co-produced "Colores Santos" (Holy Colors), the collaborative album with Cerati that broke new ground between pop and experimentation. Before that, Melero had already set the course as the leader of Los Encargados, pioneers of local synth-pop. He then extended his influence as a producer on seminal albums such as "Dynamo" (Soda Stereo), "Fin de semana salvaje" (Wild Weekend) and "San Cipriano" (Saint Cipriano) (Los Brujos), and many more. His solo career, with works like "Conga," "Travesti," "Tecno," "Disco," and "Piano," confirms him as an artist always willing to reinvent himself. During the talk, Melero reflected on asynchronicity as a form of beauty, the politics of sound and melody, vanity as a creative engine, and music's capacity to express freedom beyond form.
