Welcome, my Suellies! This is a long overdue video of hand-eaten Indian food. At first, I was apprehensive about eating with my hands (because I don't know how with Indian food) and, especially, about doing it on camera. Don't get me wrong - at home, on my couch, in my pajamas, in front of the TV - OKAY..... But in front of thousands of people? Hmmmmmm... I pushed through my initial trepidation and considered for a moment that I eat with my hands ALL THE TIME. For example, pizza? yes. French fries? yup. Burgers, egg rolls, salami, boiled egg, sushi, sandwiches, lettuce wraps, asparagus, shrimp. You get the picture. I started examining my Western frame of mind and attitudes towards hand-eating anything saucy or tiny-particled. I had this fear of doing something clumsy or strange because my bias was overtaking my more rationale side. Isn't it interesting that many Westerners consider it "exotic" to eat with our hands when we all do this from a young age? Food for thought.
