Picture This from Egypt - Episode #1 - The Giza Pyramids

Welcome to Episode #1 of our new series, “Picture This” from Egypt! This initial episode of this series takes us to the amazing pyramids of Giza! There are three primary pyramids at Giza (of a total of about 127 discovered throughout Egypt). Pyramids were used in the Old Kingdom as royal tombs for the pharaohs. This video begins with a panoramic view of these pyramids before we visit the Grand Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops). Next, we drive closer to the Khufu pyramid where we understand just how large and tall it is! We conclude the video by walking into the Khufu pyramid all the way to the inner king’s chamber. This pyramid stands about 480 feet high. Approximatley 2.2 million stones were used for this pyramid. The average weight of these stones is about 3-4 tons, with some stones weighing much more than (20-30 tons or more). The date of this pyramid (according to conventional dating) is about 2,600 BC.
