Derek Dicker & Vik Malyala | Beyond the GPU

Dicker explains why data center modernization has become a prerequisite for AI deployment, citing consolidation results where a single fifth-generation EPYC server replaces eight legacy servers while cutting power by 70%. Malyala details how demand has shifted from training clusters toward agentic inferencing, pushing customers to optimize cost per token and total cost of ownership. The conversation explores how CPUs are becoming essential to agentic AI, handling orchestration, tool calls and data movement so GPUs stay fed with work rather than idle.
