AZ Votes Debate: Maricopa County Attorney | Sept. 17, 2024

Join us for a Maricopa County Attorney candidate debate. The County Attorney is the chief prosecutor for Maricopa County, which is the fourth largest county in the U.S. The two candidates, Rachel Mitchell (R) and Tamika Wooten (D), will take part in a debate at 5 p.m. moderated by "Arizona Horizon" host and managing editor Ted Simons. Mitchell is running for her first full term as Maricopa County Attorney. The County Board of Supervisors appointed Mitchell in March 2022 to replace Allister Adel, who resigned the office due to health issues. In November 2022, Mitchell was elected in a special election to fill out the remainder of the term. Mitchell has been with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office since 1992. Wooten is a pro tem judge who has worked as a defense attorney, Glendale prosecutor and municipal judge. She attended UCLA and UA Law School and began her career as a Tucson prosecutor. She has been a practicing attorney for 34 years.
