EFF Member of Parliament Sihle Lonzi delivered a fiery and emotionally charged address during the 2026 SONA Debate, directly confronting President Cyril Ramaphosa over South Africa’s worsening youth unemployment crisis. During the debate in Parliament of South Africa, Lonzi presented physical boxes filled with CVs from unemployed youth and graduates, accusing government of celebrating matric pass statistics while thousands remain locked out of post secondary education and job opportunities. He questioned Higher Education leadership, student debt, withheld degrees, SAPS recruitment shortages and what he called “false hope sold to the youth.” The EFF also announced readiness to table its Student Debt Relief Bill and vowed to mobilise young people to flood government offices with CVs until joblessness is addressed.
